Lake Como, Italy

Seventy five rooms in the CastaDiva Resort & Spa are housed in seven villas spread among extensive botanical gardens in the village of Blevio on the eastern shores of Lake Como.

Most have a balcony, terrace or private garden, and each is uniquely decorated and laid out. Rich colours and sumptuous fabrics throughout the bedrooms and public rooms create a Baroque feel.

The property was once the residence of 19th-century opera singer Giuditta Pasta, and old and new combine as eighteenth and nineteenth century buildings now sit alongside very modern touches. For example, the ethereal fountain and light show at the floating swimming pool, which hangs over Lake Como, is accompanied by beautiful arias.

Two private villas on the shores of the lake have their own staff. The three-bedroom Norma is ideal for families while Amina is a one-bedroom love nest.

The huge spa at the CastaDiva has two treatment rooms and four spa suites, with the relaxation area’s glass floor enabling chilled-out guests to see through to an ancient dock below.  A relaxation and a hydrotherapy pool join a Swedish sauna, ice cascade and Turkish bath to ensure that you will feel totally pummelled and pampered.

As the sun goes down, sip a drink on the Bellini Bar’s terrace or at the Pool Bar. Follow that with dinner – whether private dining on your terrace or at a table in the romantic candlelit L’Orangerie restaurant, the backdrop will always be the sparkling blue waters of Lake Como.

Lightfoot Travel provides tailor-made itineraries that include daily tours and excursions, restaurant recommendations and bookings, and can incorporate Lake Como into a greater Italian or European holiday. CastaDiva Resort Testimonials

Dear Elgin

We are good than you though a bit sad to be back from honeymoon. All in all we had a wonderful time, it was truly beautiful and special and we enjoyed every aspect of our holiday in Italy.

Villa d’ Este – this was of course amazing and we found it very hard to leave. The views, the buildings, the gardens were incredible.  The room was very lovely too and though it was a standard room it was huge with a separate sitting room.  Good tip on the lake view, it was spectacular to wake up to that every morning!  We were even treated to spectacular fireworks over the lake two nights in a row (I joked with my husband that it was part of my wedding surprise but in fact there was a wedding there at the time).

Food – the breakfast was great.  We often had snacks and drinks at the Veranda restaurant which I thought was quite pricey but not unexpected.  We had dinner at Le Grill each night which was just wonderful.  We loved every dish we ordered.

Castadiva – this place really grew on us though it was very different to Villa d’Este. It is a gorgeous hotel with a wonderful view of the lake. The rooms were amazing and we stayed in Villa Dorabella which gave us an unblocked view of the lake.  The service was impeccable and the staff were friendly and eager to please.  The food was wonderful and the I also used the spa which was very good.  I really liked Castadiva and it was a great place as our final destination in Italy when we just wanted to relax.  Perhaps it is not the best place for people who want to sight see or go around the lake as you need to rely on the shuttle to Como which only goes a few times a day.  But I cannot fault the place itself.

Thanks for recommending Lugano and Lake Como – both perfect destinations for honeymooners :)

Best wishes,
