Born from a volcanic eruption some seven million years ago, Lord Howe Island boasts the southern-most coral reef in the world. The Island is just 11 kms long and barely 2 kms at its widest point and two-thirds of it is covered in natural forests, Banyan trees and Kentia palms. Only 400 visitors are allowed on the island at any one time to preserve its crystal clear waters, pristine beaches, the teeming wildlife and the non existent pollution.
The nine suites which all complement the island’s pristine natural environment provide a luxurious retreat. The suites are spacious and light, filled with timber floors and custom furniture pieces which create a sophisticated beach house ambience. All suites feature king size beds, luxurious linens, striking en suite bathrooms and oversized rain showers. Backpacks, beach towels and bathrobes are all provided to ensure that you make the most of the luxury beachside living and make the most of the island life.
Capella Lodge holds the reputation as a knock out dining destination. Only the finest and freshest cuisine is used to create an inspired menu which changes daily and seasonally. The airy beach house style restaurant boasts spectacular views of the lagoon and mountains, making it an ideal place to enjoy the sumptuous cuisine. All this delicious food is included in the rates at Capella, just lunch being an additional charge which can be enjoyed as a picnic or on the lagoon.

Located on the truly pristine Lord Howe Island, Qantaslink is the exclusive carrier to the island flying the Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft most days from Sydney, with flying time of approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes. Weekend flights depart from Brisbane and a seasonal service operates from Port Macquarie.
The 9 beachhouse-style suites command spectacular views of the ocean and awe-inspiring twin peaks of Mounts Gower and Lidgbird. The single level Capella Suites feature an expansive outdoor deck area with sumptuous day bed. The Lagoon Loft is a dual-level suite with a king bedroom and private deck upstairs, while the lower level offers a relaxed living area with daybeds and wide doors opening to an outdoor deck with daybed. The Makambo Loft captures show-stopping views from the upper level king bed sleeping area with private verandahs, while the ground level features a striking lounge with daybeds and extended decks with plunge spa for ultimate relaxation. Lastly, the Lidgbird Pavilion consists of a generous upper level bedroom area with verandahs to capture the ocean and mountain views, while the ground level living features a banquette lounge and complimentary room bar that blends seamlessly with the private outdoor area. A plunge pool beckons with extensive decks, a luxe daybed and outdoor bathing area as well.

There are activities to keep nature and outdoor lovers busy for weeks at Capella Lodge! The lagoon near the Lodge is a sheltered spot for paddling, snorkelling and kayaking. Other local attractions include hand-feeding fish at Neds Beach, rides on one of the hotel's complimentary guest push bikes, mountain climbing, glass bottom boat excursions and island tours.
