Camellia Hills

Hill Country

Sit atop Sri Lanka’s western hill country and take in the unmatched panoramic splendor of emerald tea bushes at Camellia Hills. The hotel prides itself as a member of the prestigious Sri Lankan Collection, representing the country’s finest hotels.

The property itself is a contemporary bungalow built in consideration of how a tea planter might live today. With only five exclusive rooms - three Lakeview Bedrooms and two Camellia Bedrooms -guests can really soak up the intimate and romantic atmosphere. Each room offers traditional local touches with walnut wood floors, sleek teak furniture, and four-poster beds.

Butlers attend to guests, serving home-cooked meals and drinks and snacks. There’s also a 10-meter infinity pool set amidst lush gardens, a picturesque dining area, and a lounge with an open fireplace.

On-site activities include guided tea estate walks, village and tea factory visits, nature trails, and a visit to a leopard research station.

Why we recommend Camellia Hills

Few locations in Sri Lanka can match the splendor of the Castlereagh Valley in the island’s western hill country, and this is the setting for five-bedroom Camellia Hills. A contemporary interpretation of a tea planter’s bungalow, you can explore the nearby tea factories and walk the trails that the tea pluckers use daily. We like to hike to the top of the ridge that takes about one hour but the views of the lake are picture-perfect.
