Kanha National Park, India
Situated on the banks of the Banjaar River, Banjaar Tola overlooks the lush forests and grassy meadows of Kanha National Park. The latest addition Taj Safaris’ portfolio of lodges in Madya Pradesh.
With just 18 lightweight tented suites spread over two elegant camps, this property has its own unique identity and is a great destination for wildlife enthusiasts who want to feel close to nature. The luxurious tents have been designed in a contemporary style with pressed bamboo wall panels, gorgeous bamboo floors, and locally crafted furniture hewn from local timber. The textiles used throughout have been thoughtfully designed, with rich block-printed Madhya Pradesh cottons and silks. The huge glass doors, which open up onto your veranda, beckon the Indian sky into your suite; creating an atmosphere that is light and ethereal.
One of the largest and most scenic wildlife sanctuaries in India, Kanha National Park is an ideal habitat for both tigers and their prey. The lush sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows and ravines of Kanha shelter a significant population of rare species such as tiger, leopard, sloth bear, barasingha and wild dog. Kanha is particularly well known for its endangered swamp deer, or hardwater barasingha, which populate the large open tracks of grass amidst the forests of teak and bamboo. Brought back from the brink of extinction, these handsome animals are a remarkable conservation success story for Kanha.
