Plancius Information

Location & Getting There:

The Plancius typically departs from Ushuaia, Argentina’s southern most point. Regular flights connect Ushuaia from Buenos Aires or Santiago de Chile.

Voyages on the Plancius are true exploratory expeditions, and while this is not a luxury yacht, accommodations are relaxed, cozy, and comfortable. The vessel can house up to 116 passengers in 53 cabins, each with private bathrooms. All of the cabins are well-appointed with inviting design. They feature ample storage and a work area, as well as flatscreen TVs for movies and entertainment. Premium cabins are furnished with upgraded linens. All cabins have outside views via porthole or window.

The ship offers several passenger areas for socializing and enjoyment. There is a restaurant and a spacious observation lounge (with bar), featuring large windows and panoramic views of the breathtaking scenery just outside. There are large open deck spaces providing opportunities to observe the wildlife. After a two-year total refurbishment, the Plancius has emerged as one of the most modern and well-appointed expedition cruise vessels on the ocean.

Observation lounge

Aboard the Plancius guests will be treated to some of the most spectacular views ever seen. Panoramic vistas surround you in the observation lounge, an area that serves as the ship's primary meeting place onboard. In it, you’ll find a well-stocked and tended bar and comfortable lounge chairs near a window to sip an evening cocktail or hot tea. The library is also a popular place, packed with resources on the wildlife, history, geography, and geology of the region. There are books on landscape and wildlife photography, as well as maps and navigational charts for budding mariners.

Your sense of adventure will be well-stoked with itineraries packed with onshore excursions and opportunities to explore. Hike remote islands. Observe a fantastic variety of birds, seals, whales, and penguins galore. Bear witness to some of the most rugged, impressive, and breathtaking landscapes in the world. This is true exploration on the southern tip of the world.

The Plancius caters mainly to adults.
