Offbeat Mara Camp Information

Location & Getting There:

Offbeat Mara Camp is nestled in a valley on the Olare Orok River, deep in the heart of the Mara North Conservancy, offering easy access to the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. International flights arrive at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta Airport. From there it is a short drive to Wilson Domestic Airport, with scheduled flights to Laikipia airstrip, a 40-minute drive to camp.

Accommodation:

Offbeat Mara includes just six traditional tents, sleeping a maximum of 12 guests in the exclusive safari camp. Enter the large walk-in canvas tents to find enormous cedar beds, solar lighting, and fine linens. Relax in sumptuous accommodations with the convenience of ensuite bathrooms with traditional safari showers, washbasins, and flush loos. Step out onto your own private verandah and marvel at the nature that surrounds you.

The heart of Offbeat Mara Camp is the main ‘mess’ tent that features a comfortable lounge area decorated with traditional Kenyan textiles, a bar/library area to relax and mingle with other guests, and a dining area, lit up like a jewel every evening. Every space is designed for maximum privacy and breathtaking views. Relax, rejuvenate, unwind.

Facilities:

Gift shop
Daily laundry
Communal ‘mess’ tent with dining room, bar, and lounge area

Activities:

Sitting in the heart of the 74,000 acre Mara North Conservancy, Offbeat Mara Camp is the ideal location for full-day game drives and night game drives in custom-built Land Cruisers. Visit wildebeest crossing points on the Mara River. Check out the majestic rhinos at the rhino sanctuary. The experienced team of guides at Offbeat Mara are all silver rated with the Kenya Professional Safari Guide Association and know the area better than anyone. Guests are in decidedly good hands.

When not out on drive, book in for picnics in the bush, hot air balloon safaris, visits to a Maasai village, and evenings around the campfire, reflecting on the adventures of the day. Dine on gourmet fare thoughtfully prepared by the camp’s in-house chef (an expert in desserts with a soft spot for banoffie pie). Make sweet memories that will last a lifetime.

Children:

Offbeat Mara is not suitable for very young children. Older children are welcome to join and enjoy the safari experience.
