The 19th century waterfront warehouses for which the city is famous once bustled with whalers, soldiers, petty bureaucrats and opportunist businessmen. Now they house cafes, restaurants and studios, a delightful way to unwind in the evening after your drive.

Explore the old city centre which contains some of the best remaining colonial and convict era architecture in Australia. Spend a day in the Derwent Valley, take a walk in beautiful Mt. Field National Park and visit the Russell Falls. For keen cooks we can arrange a truly memorable collect, cook and eat experience that is hosted by a well-known Australian food ‘guru’ at his small, historic cooking school.
