Beach, Bush and Falls

This is a wonderful 12-night safari combining the excitement of Victoria Falls with Zambia’s best game viewing destinations. There is also the tranquility and beauty of Lake Malawi thrown in for some rest and relaxation at the end of your holiday.

This trip combines three destinations, a variety of activities (white water rafting, scuba diving, walking and driving safaris just to name a few), exceptional food and friendly, knowledgeable guides.

Day 1: Arrival into Livingstone

You will arrive into Livingstone International Airport where you will be driven to your hotel, Tongabezi. During the afternoon you have the chance to head out on an afternoon activity before returning for a delicious dinner.

Day 2: Onwards to Sindabezi Island

Today you will be transferred to the nearby Sindabezi Island. Enjoy a day at Victoria Falls or go for a morning boat cruise on the Zambezi. You can also make the most of the white water rafting which is on offer or a swim in the Devil’s Pools at the falls (both are seasonal activities).

Day 3: Day at leisure on Sindabezi Island

With many activities on offer, today you can go canoeing, visit the nearby local village, go fishing, have lunch on a private island or participate in a game drive in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. Or just sit back and relax at your lovely luxury camp, the Sindabezi Island. This forested island retreat offers luxurious accommodation raised on wooden platforms, connected by an accomplished chef and knowledgeable guides who lead numerous daily activities.

Day 4: From Sindabezi Island to South Luangwa National Park

Today you will catch a flight from Livingstone to Mfuwe for the South Luangwa National Park. An early start gives you the full day to explore the game rich area close to Kapani Camp. The morning drive brings you back to Kapani Camp for a scrumptious brunch and some time to relax before the evening safari during which you will have the opportunity to view some of the nocturnal inhabitants of the bush.

Day 5: Explorations around Kapani Camp

Have the day to explore the surrounding area around Kapani Camp, and the chance for a game walk with an experienced guide.

Day 6: From Kapani Camp to Luwi Bush Camp

Today you will move from Kapani Camp to the first of your remote bush camp accommodations from where you will experience your first proper walking safari. Game viewing activities from Luwi Bush Camp are mostly on foot although you do always have the option of game drives and night drives.

Day 7: Game walks at Luwi Bush Camp

Day to enjoy some walks from Luwi Bush Camp with your experienced guide.

Day 8: From Luwi Bush Camp to Mchenja Bush Camp

Today you will transfer to your next bush camp, Mchenja Bush Camp, either by walking or driving or a combination of both. You will arrive at Mchenja in time for an energy-boosting brunch. You will enjoy two full days at this camp and time to explore the South Luangwa and all that it has to offer. Walking and driving safaris are both offered at Mchenja Bush Camp.

Day 9: Day at leisure in Mchenja Bush Camp

Day to enjoy some walks and game drives from Mchenja Bush Camp with your experienced guide.

Day 10: From Mchenja Bush Camp to Likoma Island

The drive from Mchenja Bush Camp to Mfuwe Airport takes you along the Luangwa River for the last time. Your flight will take you via Lilongwe in Malawi and onto Likoma Island in the midst of the crystal clear waters of Lake MalawiKaya Mawa (meaning “maybe tomorrow”) is situated at the southern tip surrounded by mango trees and ancient baobabs.

Day 11 - 12: Lake Malawi

You have two full days to enjoy the splendour of this luxurious and peaceful beach resort. There are plenty of activities to be enjoyed both on and under the water. Lake Malawi is Africa’s 3rd largest lake and is home to a wide variety of aquatic life – the clear waters around Likoma Island are excellent for diving and snorkeling. The island itself has plenty of treats in store and you are free to explore on foot, by bicycle or on quad bikes. A visit to St Peter’s Cathedral is highly recommended. This remarkable building built by missionaries at the turn of the 20th century measures over 100m in length.

Day 13: Departure

The flight from Likoma Island will take you to Lilongwe from where you will connect to your onward flight home.
