During this 10 day itinerary, you will be introduced to this fascinating country and experience the best of what Peru has to offer: Lima’s colonial architecture, the Sacred Valley, the legendary Machu Picchu and the beautiful Lake Titicaca.

Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival into Lima, you will be met by a representative and be transferred to your first hotel, B Arts Boutique Hotel, located in the heart of Barranco, Lima’s boho-chic neighbourhood.

Day 2: Historical visit of Lima

After a hearty breakfast, you will be taken on a guided visit of Lima. Start off with colonial downtown (Santo Domingo Convent, Main Square, Cathedral and Casa de Aliaga) followed by a hosted visit of the Larco Herrera Museum with its curator.

After lunch, which will be held at Astrid & Gaston, you will continue on to visit Barranco. Fashion photography aficionados will delight in visiting MATE Museum, which specializes in the work of famed photographer, Mario Testino.

Day 3: From Lima to Urumbamba Sacred Valley

In the morning, you will board a flight to Cusco. On the way to your hotel, you will start off visits of the region stopping by small towns scattered across the valley before having lunch at Hacienda Huayoccari. Uncovering traditions and customs that date back to the time of the Incas is a wonderful way of understanding today’s inhabitants.

Once you check-into Hotel Sol y Luna, feel free to relax and enjoy time at leisure.

Day 4: Culture visit of Urubamba Sacred Valley

Start off your day with a visit of the town of Chinchero and Nilda Callanaupa’s weaving center, heir’s to ancestral weaving techniques, kept alive through the National Geographic-sponsored Cusco Center for Traditional Textiles. Later on, you will make your way to the centuries-old Maras salt mines, where salt was produced long before the Incas arrived.

For lunch, enjoy a lovely picnic in Tiobamba, after which you will pay a visit to ceramist Pablo Seminario’s workshop. Pablo has created what is known as the ‘Seminario style’, which can only be described as a combination of modern day techniques with pre-Inca and Inca influence.

Day 5: On the way to Machu Picchu

Rise early to catch the train which will take you to Machu Picchu. On the way, relax and admire the landscape. Once you get to Machu Picchu, you will have a guided visit of this legendary Inca ruin, during which time you will learn more about its meaning and importance to the Incas, why it was abandoned and its discovery by Hiram Bingham in 1911.

Once you have fully visited this splendid valley, you will be transferred to your accommodation, Inkaterra Machu Picchu.

Day 6: From Machu Picchu to Cusco

Your morning is at leisure so feel free to sleep in, or enjoy the hotel’s facilities.

You will be transferred to Machu Picchu town for lunch, where you will delight in a traditional Peruvian meal before returning to the train station and making your way to Cusco.

Day 7: Cultural visits of Cusco

After a good night’s rest, you will have the entire day to fully explore Cusco where you will get a glimpse of the heritage, the richest of any South American city. Start off with morning visits to Sacsayhuaman, an impressive archaeological structure with strong religious connotations. Then stroll through San Pedro market, the Main Square, the Cathedral and the San Blas neighbourhood, Cusco’s bohemian quarter.

Day 8: Travelling from Cusco to Puno

The morning will be at leisure for you to stroll through Cusco and perhaps purchase souvenirs or relax in your hotel.

In the early afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport to board your flight to Puno, located on the shore of the famed Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake and from where legend says the founders of the Inca Empire emerged from.

Day 9: Fun activities in Lake Titicaca

You will spend the entire day enjoying all that Lake Titicaca has to offer. From boat cruises to water activities, to visiting local villages, you will not want for fun things to do!

You will have a few hours in the morning to make the most of Lake Titicaca before making your way back home.
