Do not be deterred by the 8000m high peaks of the Himalaya! Though Nepal is home to the world’s highest summit, there are numerous hiking options for families looking to explore this super part of the globe.
This 8 day itinerary takes you on a discovery of Nepalese culture as well as to some of the country’s most spectacular sights.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival into Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel to freshen up. Once you are ready, your guide and driver will take you to Karhmandu’s Durbar square, home of numerous temples and palaces. You will board cycle rickshaws to visit the many sites.

Day 2: From Kathmandu to Pokhara
After breakfast, you will be driven to the domestic airport to catch your 25 minute flight to Pokhara. During the flight, be sure to admire the splendid Western mountain ranges that unfold below. Once you have landed, your trek guide and porters will transfer you to the starting point of your trek, around 1.5 hours away.
The first leg of your trek will take you to the local village of Birethanti, which you will visit and where you will have lunch. Then, you will continue to the second leg of your trek, which is 2.5 hours and will take you to Sanctuary Lodge, at 3362 ft, where you will be staying for the night. You will arrive in time to see the sunset, then it is dinner time and happy hour around the camp fire.
Day 3: Trek to Gunung Lodge and visit of local school
Today, you will ascend to 4,756 feet as you trek to your next accommodation, Gunung Lodge. The uphill trek will take approximately 2.5 hours, and once you have reached the final destination, you will have clear views of Annapurna South and its surrounding peaks. On the way up, you will also have the chance to visit a famous bee village, where honey is produced in the traditional way.
After lunch, you will visit a local museum which houses objects used by villagers for the past centuries, and then, head to a local school where you will interact with teachers and pupils and experience the local education system.

Day 4: Return to Pokhara and visit of monastery
In the morning, you will trek one hour to the roadside, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to Pokhara. Along the way, you will visit a Tibetan refugee camp as well as a monastery where one of the high Lama priests will explain the symbols and significances of the Tibetan religion.
The rest of the afternoon is at leisure for you to explore the lakeside.

Day 5: Rafting on the Seti River
To get to your next destination, you will drive an hour into the countryside, followed by a rafting excursion. During the 3 hour river excursion, you will float past unspoiled forested valleys, after which you will arrive at the Seti River Camp, located on a sandy bank with views over the river. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to enjoy the riverbank and relax.

Day 6: En route to Chitwan
Once you have checked-out of Seti River Camp, you will embark on a 2.5 hour river excursion to reach the road-head. On the way, look out for birds and riverside villages. Then, you will be transferred into the jungle, to your next accommodation, Chitwan Lodge. Once you have settled in, you will go on a safari through the jungle.

Day 7: Morning safari and return to Kathmandu
In the morning, you will go on a safari before being transferred to the airport to catch your return flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in the capital city, you will visit Boudhanath, the largest stupa in Asia.
In the evening, you will meet and have dinner with a Sherpa summiteer who will entertain you with his many exciting stories and climbs to Mount Everest.

Day 8: Departure
Upon check-out you will be transferred to the airport in time to catch your return flight.
