Day 1: Arrive in New Zealand

Upon arrival in Auckland you’ll be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel.

Stay: Hilton Auckland Hotel

Day 2: Auckland - Taupo

This morning you’ll be met at your accommodation and driven south to Matamata.

We’ll visit the Hobbiton Movie Set from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies for a fascinating two hour guided tour, during which you’ll see Hobbit Holes, The Green Dragon Inn, The Mill, double arched bridge and other sights from the films.

Drinks will be served at The Green Dragon Inn, with spectacular views over the Kaimai Ranges.

Following the tour you’ll be transferred to your accommodation in Taupo.

Day 3: Taupo - Rotorua - Taupo

This morning we’ll drive to Rotorua.

There you’ll meet your private guide from Ohinemutu Village for a tour of local life and landmarks before heading to the Rotorua waterfront for a private helicopter ride to Mount Tarawera and White Island.

Once on Mount Tarawera, a dormant volcano, you’ll experience expansive views of mighty domes and craters formed during the 1886 eruption.

We’ll track past Mount Edgecombe before arriving at White Island, where
(conditions permitting) you’ll see steaming fumaroles, bubbling activity, and the roaring volcanic vent known as ‘PJ’.

We’ll fly over Waimangu Geothermal Park before returning to your accommodation.

Day 4: Taupo

In the morning you’ll be met and transferred to the Taupo Boat Harbour for a full day private scenic charter.

We’ll cruise around the northern bays of Lake Taupo, enjoying lunch on board, amidst breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. You’ll see the Maori rock carvings and Kaipo Bay, and learn about the geological history and Maori mythology surrounding the lake.

There will also be the opportunity to enjoy some fishing.

Following your cruise you’ll be transferred to your accommodation

Day 5: Taupo - Hawke's Bay

Today we’ll head to Hawke’s Bay.

The afternoon starts with a privately guided Kiwi Discovery Walk on the Cape Kidnappers property where you’ll experience the treasured native bird, the kiwi, in the wild. There are five species of kiwi in New Zealand and they’re all endangered. At Cape Kidnappers, they carry out essential monitoring of the kiwi chicks such as weighing and measuring the birds.

Day 6: Hawke's Bay

After breakfast we’ll start our cycling excursion.

It begins at Clifton, near the base of the cliffs of Cape Kidnappers, and takes us along the coast for 7km through the settlements of Te Awanga and Haumoana. Wine tasting is available at the wineries of Clearview Estate and Elephant Hill.

Upon reaching Haumoana we’ll follow the Tuki Tuki river to Black Bridge before heading to the coast for some bird-spotting. We’ll track along the Tutaekuri River bank passing market gardens, orchards, vineyards and New Zealand’s oldest winery. We recommend lunch at The Mission Estate (cost not included) before returning to your accommodation.

Day 7: Hawke's Bay

Enjoy the beauty of New Zealand at your leisure today. While doing so, we recommend the following options :

  • The city of Napier, which boasts one of the best collections of Art Deco architecture in the world
  • Drive up to the summit of Te Mata Peak for expansive views over the bay
  • Watch the gannets go about their day at the Cape Kidnappers gannet colony
  • Enjoy fish, chips and a bottle of wine on Waimarama or Ocean beach
  • Play on one of world’s top 30 golf courses at Cape Kidnappers

Day 8" Hawke's Bay - Christchurch

Today you’ll be driven to Napier Airport for your flight to Christchurch.

Upon arrival you’ll be met by our guide and driver who’ll escort you on an introductory sightseeing tour of the city before heading to your accommodation.

Day 9: Akaroa

This morning we’ll take a day tour to the Banks Peninsula, home to the quaint French village of Akaroa.

You’ll be driven around the base of Port Hills towards Banks Peninsula for some wonderful views of Akaroa Harbour.

We’ll then spend 2 hours cruising Akaroa Harbour, renowned for its sparkling waters, the world’s smallest and rarest dolphins, as well as New Zealand fur seals, little blue penguins, and myriad bird life.

Back on shore we’ll have a picnic and take in one of the region’s iconic gardens.

You’ll be returned to your accommodation in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Christchurch - Wanaka

You’ll be met at your accommodation and transferred to Christchurch Airport for your flight to Queenstown.

Upon arrival you’ll be met by your private helicopter for a spectacular Milford Sound excursion, exploring the most remote and untouched parts of New Zealand ; flying under 2000 ft waterfalls, through fiords, landing amongst fur seals, diving for fresh lobster, climbing underneath glaciers and landing in the snow for photos against the Mt Aspiring backdrop.

We’ll then transfer you to your accommodation.

Day 11: Wanaka

Set at the head of a picturesque glacial valley, within the untouched beauty of the Southern Alps, a whole host of activities will keep you occupied such as spotting wild game animals, taking a helicopter to explore the rugged Fiordland West Coast, accessing fly-fishing rivers, or relaxing with a book on your private deck.

Day 12: Wanaka - Queenstown

Today your private helicopter will transfer you to Closeburn, where you’ll be driven to your accommodation.

Framed by impressive mountain ranges, Matakauri Lodge offers the perfect alpine lakeside hideaway. Strategically located by the breath-taking Lake Wakatipu, the lodge is a convenient 10-minute drive from Queenstown.

Day 13: Queenstown

We’ll embark on some sightseeing-in-comfort as we drive along the routes of the pioneers that dug the gold out of this harsh yet stunning landscape.

The Shotover River will rush hundreds of feet below as we wind our way through the mountains. At Deep Creek we’ll board Skippers Canyon Jet Boat – all you have to do it sit back and hold on as your driver navigates the sheer canyon walls and mining dredges.

The afternoon is set at a more leisurely pace as we partake in a half day wine excursion to Central Otago vineyards. The tour takes in the Gibbston, Bannockburn and Cromwell, plus a tour of New Zealand’s largest wine cave.

We’ll then return to your accommodation.

Dy 14: Queenstown

Today will be spent at your leisure and we recommend the following local experiences:

  • Ride the Skyline Gondola to the top of Bob’s Peak and Lake Wakatipu. The more adventurous can zip line or luge ride back down
  • Hike the nearby landscapes including lakeside, rainforest, high country, alpine and farmlands
  • Play on Queenstown’s world-class golf courses such as Jacks Point, The Hills or Millbrook
  • Brave some bungy jumping, at the 134-metre Nevis River, the 43-metre Kawarau Bridge or the 47-metre ledge
  • Visit a country station for a farm tour to watch the sheep dogs at work, see the adorable lambs, observe wool shearing, or harvest your own fruit and vegetables

Day 15: Queenstown

You’ll be met at your accommodation and transferred to Queenstown Airport for your onward flight.
