Glaciers & Fjords of Patagonia

A 14 day tour travelling through both Argentina and Chile to explore the glaciers & fjords of Patagonia. Touchdown to explore Buenos Aires, the so-called Paris of South America to take in a tango show, dine on the best steak and explore the interesting districts of the city. Fly south to El Calafate where your Patagonian adventure begins, here you’ll trek across the ice of the Perito Moreno Glacier before heading across the Chilean border to the Torres del Paine. Hike, kayak and horse ride whilst surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks, perhaps spotting condors and even puma along the way. Board the excellent Stella Australis to explore the channels and fjords of this remote, hardly explored area of Patagonia. A sail through Glacier Alley says it all about what you will see over the coming days before disembarking in Ushuaia.

Day 1: Arrival

Upon arriving at Buenos Aires airport,  you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel in the heart of Recoleta.

Day 2: Touring Buenos Aires

Your guide will show you the highlights of Buenos Aires on a half day tour today. Take in the colourful Italian district La Boca, the cobbled streets of colonial San Telmo, past the Plaza de Mayo and on to the fascinating Recoleta Cemetery where Eva Peron is buried. We can tailor the day to your interests whether that by art, markets, history or food, there is so much to see and do.

Day 3: Day at leisure in Buenos Aires

A day to explore this exciting and vibrant city, heading back to some of the explore yesterday

Day 4: From Buenos Aires to El Calafate, Patagonia

Airport transfer this morning where you fly south to El Calafate in Argentine Patagonia. Find incredible landscapes of the snow-capped Andes, the plains of the Patagonian Steppe and the many glaciers of Los Glaciares National Park. Spend the next two nights at Hosteria Alta Vista.

Day 5: Explore El Calafate

Spend the day exploring Los Glaciares National Park with your private guide, the spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier is the main attraction. Your guide will take you along the specially built walkways to get up close hoping to catch sight of huge blue-coloured chunks of ice calve into the waters of Lake Argentino.. An exhilarating two-hour mini trek on the glacier itself is included today.

Day 6: From El Calafate to Torres del Paine

Travel overland across the Patagonian steppe for around 6 hours to your hotel beside the Torres del Paine National Park. Spend three nights in a luxury yurt at Patagonia Camp on a full board basis including all meals, house drinks, shared transfers and a selection of shared excursions (private tours can be arranged at extra cost).

Day 7-8: The Great Outdoors in Torres del Paine

A wide range of exciting excursions such as trekking, park tours, kayaking and fishing are included in the stay.

Day 9: Board the Patagonia Cruise

Shared transfer of around five hours to Punta Arenas port to board the Stella Australis for a Patagonia cruise to Ushuaia in Argentina. Spend four nights on board in a B cabin (upgrades are available).

Day 10 - 12: Cruising in Patagonia

Spend the next few days navigating through the fjords enroute to Ushuaia in southern Argentina. Highlights include the as well as plenty wildlife viewing opportunities. Head out on zodiac boats to cruise up close to the glaciers and colonies of seals and sea birds and hike to viewpoints for fine vistas of the surrounding Patagonian landscape.

Day 13: Disembark in Ushuaia

Disembark and transfer to your hotel on the shores of the Beagle Channel outside of town.

Stay: Los Cauquenes

Day 14: Departure

Airport transfer for a flight to Buenos Aires’ domestic airport. On arrival transfer to the international airport for your flight home.

It is possible to extend the stay in Ushuaia or perhaps add on another exciting destination such as the Iguazu Falls. Perhaps a few days on the Brazilian coast for a warming end to a Patagonia holiday.
