Family Summer Adventure in Iceland

With long days during the summer, make the most of your trip to Iceland to discover these fascinating sights, which the entire family will enjoy. Though it is summer, keep your eyes open for signs of the Northern Lights, which can be seen when the sun sets and the sky is cloudless.

Day 1: Arrival into Reykjavik

Upon arrival into Reykjavik, you will be transferred to your hotel, Hotel 101, located in the heart of the capital. The rest of the day is at leisure to stroll through the city.

Day 2: From Reykjavik to South Iceland

Today you will travel Hella, located an hour away from Reykjavik and go on to explore the splendours that await: Thingvellir National Park, the famed Strokkur geyser and the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall.

Day 3: Excursion to Ice Lagoon and Vatnajokull Glacier

Today, you will be transferred to the Ice Lagoon where you will hop aboard a boat tour to discover the Vatnajokull Glacier, Europe’s largest glacier.

If you’d like, Lightfoot Travel can also organise a helicopter tour of the region, enabling you to view to magnificence of the site from above.

Day 4: Fly fishing in the Holsa

The Holsa is a river known for being the home of Atlantic Salmon and Sea Trout making it the perfect location for fishing aficionados.

Day 5: Return to Reykjavik

In the morning, you will check out from Ranga Lodge and make your way back to Reykjavik. After lunch, you will head out on a 2.5 hour whale watching cruise. The most common of whales in Iceland are the Mink whales, White-beaked dolphins and Porpoises. There is also a possibility of sighting Killer whales, Humpback whales and Blue whales so keep your eyes wide open.

Stay: 101 Hotel

Day 6: Excursion to Blue Lagoon and departure

After checking out of Hotel 101, you will make your way to the popular Blue Lagoon, one of Iceland’s main attraction. This natural geothermal spa is the perfect way to relax before heading to the airport to catch your return flight home.
