Welcome to Central America, prepare to experience culture and nature in Guatemala and Belize during this exciting 14 day itinerary.

From jungles to Mayan ruins and of course paradisiacal beaches, these two Central American countries have a lot of beautiful sights to offer. A mix of culture, adventure and relaxation this two week itinerary will be an unforgettable voyage.

Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival into Guatemala’s former capital, Antigua, you will be transferred to Palacio de Dona Leonor.

The rest of the day is at leisure. Make the most of this time to relax at the hotel or stroll through the cobbled streets and terracotta houses of this charming town.

Day 2: Cultural Visit of Antigua

You will rise early and start off your day with a visit to the colorful and slightly chaotic Antigua market. There, watch as locals go about their daily business and perhaps buy a few souvenirs.

During the rest of the day, you will visit other beautiful sites in Antigua: Catedral de Santiago, Parque Central, Palacio de los Capitanes Generals and many more.

Day 3: Volcano ascent

Nestled between three volcanoes, Antigua is the perfect starting ground to venture all the way of either Agua (3766m), Fuego (3763m) or Acatenango (3976m).

The ascent will start early in the morning, the best time for great views of the vicinity. You will enjoy lunch on your descent and will be able to admire the view whilst you dine. Once you’ve descended, the remainder of the day will be at leisure to relax. If you are not feeling too sore, Lightfoot Travel can also organize a Guatemalan cooking class after your hike. Learn how to make local delicacies such as corn tamales, subanik, pepian and chuchitos, Delicious!

Day 4: From Antigua to Lake Atitlan

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Atitlan, a two hour drive away, and check into Casa Palopo, a charming property on the shares of the famed lake.

Once you’ve arrived, you will embark on a boat excursion and discover the many villages around Lake Atitlan, which include Santiago, San Pedro, San Marcos, San Juan and San Antonio

Day 5 - 6: Discovering Lake Atitlan

The next two days are at leisure to enjoy the beauty and serenity of Lake Atitlan. We recommend the following activities: cycling and hiking around the lake, paragliding, zip lining, strolling through markets…

Day 7: Lake Atitlan to Tikal

Make your way to Guatemala City in the morning to catch your onward flight to Tikal, once a powerful Mayan city. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your accommodation, Bolontiku, tucked away in the rainforest.

The rest of the afternoon is at leisure. We suggest taking a stroll through the dense jungle and look out for the exotic wildlife: monkeys, toucans and many more!

Day 8: Ruins of Tikal

You will spend the entire day discovering the numerous ruins that Tikal is peppered with and Lightfoot Travel can also organise a private picnic within the Tikal site should you wish it. Though towering pyramids are a common sight you will not tiring of admiring these impressive structure, remnants of the Mayans.

Day 9: From Guatemala to Belize

Depart Tikal in the early morning and catch your flight to Belize. Adrift from Belize’s Caribbean coast the Cayes are a string of idyllic islands surrounded by coral reef. Check into Matachica Resort and Spa and let the beach holiday portion of your trip begin.

Day 10 - 13: The Cayes

The remainder of your holiday is at complete leisure. The Cayes are a truly beautiful part of the world and exploring it is an absolute delight. As well as being a diver’s paradise, this region offers numerous activities such as fishing, snorkeling, heli-tours, jungle adventures and many more.

A snorkelling tour to Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley will be organised whilst you are there.

Day 14: Departure

You will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight home.
