From the famous Côte d’Azur to Avignon, you will discover the beauty of Provence, with an itinerary that shows you some of the iconic sights as well as some exclusive experiences based around history and gastronomy, which are both intricately linked in this superb region.

Day 1: Arrival into Nice

Transfer from Nice Airport to Hôtel Chateau Saint Martin & Spa

The rest of the day is at leisure for you to explore or relax, followed by dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.

Day 2: Discovering Saint Paul de Vence

The morning is at leisure for you to relax, sleep in or make the most of the hotel’s garden and facilities.

In the afternoon you will visit the picturesque village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a beautiful village perched atop a hill. You will find in its narrow streets some remarkable art galleries featuring prominent artists from around the world. Chagall himself spent 19 years in St Paul and your guide will take you to his tomb in the village cemetery where you can maybe add your own homage to the others you will find there.

You will continue by visiting the Maeght Foundation. The museum is located amidst nature and it is an outstanding place which gathered one of Europe’s most important collections of paintings, drawings, sculptures of the 20th century: Braque, Chagall, Chillida, Léger, Miró, Ubac as well as comtemporary artists such as Adami, Calzolari, Caro, Dietman, Mitchell, Oh Sufan, Tàpies to name a few.

Day 3: Exploring Nice

After breakfast, you will visit the famous sunny town of Nice, its markets and the Cours Saleya. A trip up to the gardens of the Chateau de Nice is a must to admire the city and port from this wonderful view point.

After lunch you will visit The Matisse and/or Chagall museums and then have some time at leisure to stroll through the city or do some shopping before returning to the hotel.

Day 4: Day trip to Tourrettes sur Loup & Grasse

You will leave Nice in the morning, onwards to your next destination, St Tropez. On your way there, you will visit Tourrettes-sur-Loup then Grasse.

Tourrettes-sur-Loup is a stunning medieval village perched on a rocky outcrop where you will discover almost 30 artists and designers workshops offering paintings, sculptures, jewelry and pottery… You will continue on to Grasse, the world perfume capital where you can visit the International Perfume Museum and gardens.

Our journey will then continue towards St Tropez stopping for a wine tasting at the Chateau Saint-Maur at Cogolin.

Once you arrive at the legendary Hôtel Le Byblos in St Tropez and settle into your rooms you will be free for dinner at one of the hotel’s restaurants or in Saint Tropez

Day 5: Enjoying the glitz and glamour of St Tropez

Enjoy the unique atmosphere of this town, voted “the most romantic port of call” in 2015 by USA Today; St Tropez has lost nothing of the glitzy charm that has made it famous. Try a slice of La Tarte Tropezienne or enjoy a drink at the Senequier watching the world go by and admire the super yachts moored in the port.

Day 6: From St Tropez to Avignon

Today we will depart the Côte d’Azur to head on to Avignon making a stop in Aix-en-Provence on the way. The visit will include the chic Quartier Mazarin, the picturesque old town as well as the daily market on the Place Richelme.

After lunch we will drive to Avignon via the stunning Luberon region of Provence. You will see the iconic hilltop villages of Bonnieux, Lacoste, Rousillon and Gordes.

Continue your drive to Avignon where you will settle into your rooms at the Hotel La Mirande

The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 7: Visiting Avignon and surrounds

Today you will start your day with a visit to the Palace of the Popes. Once the seat of the Papacy in the 14th century, the palace of the Popes is one of the largest Gothic monuments in the world. Listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage sites the visit is a fascinating journey into the world of the Roman Catholic Church of the Middle Ages. You will also visit the famous Pont d’Avignon, the bridge that spans half of the Rhone River and is the inspiration to the children’s song of the same name.

In the afternoon, you can should to either discover Les Baux de Provence and the ruins of its medieval castle, or visit Arles, once an important Roman trading post with one of the finest Roman Arenas in Europe.

To celebrate your last evening in Provence you will have dinner at the guest’s table at La Mirande, which takes place in the Medieval kitchen for a group of a maximum of 16 guests. During this unique and convivial meal, your chef will prepare your dinner in front of you.

Day 8: Departure

After breakfast transfer to Marseille Airport where you will catch your return flight home.
