Follow in the footsteps of Jacques Cousteau and explore the Amazon’s famed waterways. Take a private charter along the Tapajos River. Feel as if you are in another world as you spy emerald lakes, blue and yellow rivers. Set sail from the city of Santarem and cruise into the blue water of the Tapajos, before you trek to the village of Alter do Chilo with its emerald green lake and then sail onto the Arapiuns River with its yellow water and the chance to fish for piranhas.

GO FOR A TREETOP CANOPY WALK

Borneo Rainforest Lodge, Malaysia

Spanning 300 metres in length, this treetop canopy walk that runs through the Danum Valley will give you a bird’s eye view of the jungle. Engineered to be tree friendly, the rigging just hugs, rather than cuts through the trees. If your legs are feeling a little wobbly, you can rest a while at the observation platforms that are dotted throughout the walk and enjoy a little forest bathing.
