Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe
Landlocked by South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia and Botswana, vibrant Zimbabwe is the wild heart of Africa. Blessed with nature, near-overrun by wildlife, and possessing an enviable joy for life, visiting Zimbabwe is easily one of our favourite African adventures.
It’s most famous as the epicentre to one of the greatest natural wonders of the world, the mighty Victoria Falls. And while this is a must see stop for anyone who ventures to the south of Africa, we certainly recommend visiting lesser known wonders like Lake Kariba, Matopos National Park, and the Hwange National Park.
Wildlife and nature have been wonderfully cared for and maintained despite a past of governmental indifference. Areas like Matusadona, the Mana Pools and Zambezi National Parks all exist firstly to preserve Mother Nature but also are welcoming to responsible tourism.
The two major cities in Zimbabwe, Harare and Bulawayo are definitely worth checking out as you will absorb the vibrancy and joyfulness of the locals street life. Culture, cuisine and comfort can be found easily in Zimbabwe, while we recommend staying at a beautiful old colonial hotel!
Lightfoot Travel’s highly-experienced consultants are well-travelled through Zimbabwe and create incredible tailor-made itineraries inspired by their own tours.
